Think of it like Spades, but for 3 players and no teams. Everyone plays for themselves, and instead of bidding, each player has a set number of tricks to win based on their position that round.
The game uses a 54-card deck (standard 52 cards plus the Big and Little Jokers). Each player gets 18 cards with nothing left over.
Each round, every player gets a spot with a different number of "books" (tricks) to win:
Spots rotate each round, so everyone takes a turn at every position.
The dealer picks the trump suit before play starts. The two Jokers always outrank everything regardless of trump. The Big Joker is the highest card in the game. The Little Joker beats everything except the Big Joker.
If you come up short on books, you owe plucks to whoever hit their target. A pluck works like this: you offer a bait card in a suit, and the other player has to give you their highest card in that suit. If they don't have anything higher than your bait, your card comes back to you. You can also choose to skip receiving a pluck, but it still counts against you.
The game ends when someone is on track to reach 7 total plucks. The player with the fewest plucks wins. A tie is a "cat game." If one player takes out both opponents in the same round, that's a Double Up.
Best way to learn? Just jump in. The AI won't judge you.

Playing as a guest? No account, nothing stored.
No payment info, no location, no ad trackers, no device fingerprints, no cross-site tracking. We don't sell your data.
We use Google OAuth 2.0 with basic profile permissions only. We can't access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or anything else. You can remove our access anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Sign in with Apple is available on the iOS app. We get your name and an email address (or Apple's private relay if you chose to hide yours). We don't share your Apple info with anyone. To remove access, go to Settings > [your name] > Password & Security > Apps Using Apple ID on your iPhone or iPad.
We keep your account and game stats for as long as your account is active. If you want your data deleted, just email us and we'll take care of it within 30 days. Guest sessions leave no data behind.
We use a few backend services to keep the game running. None of them receive your personal information:
Your data is stored on our servers over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We take security seriously, but no service can promise 100% protection.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your data anytime. EU users have GDPR rights, California users have CCPA rights. Just email us and we'll take care of it within 30 days (45 days for CCPA).
Cut Throat is not for anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to play after that means you're okay with the changes.

By playing Cut Throat at playcutthroat.com, on the iOS app, or on Android via Google Play, you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the game.
You need to be at least 13 years old to play.
You can play as a guest with no account, or sign in with Google or Apple to save your stats. Whatever you do on your account is your responsibility. If you use Sign in with Apple on iOS, Apple's terms apply alongside ours.
We can suspend or ban accounts that break these rules. Bans can be temporary or permanent. We decide on a case-by-case basis.
The Cut Throat name, design, code, and branding belong to Evolve X Enterprise. Don't copy, resell, or redistribute without permission.
Cut Throat is free to play and comes as-is. We can't promise it'll be up 24/7 or completely bug-free.
Evolve X Enterprise isn't responsible for any losses or damages from using the game. You play at your own risk.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States.
If we update these terms, we'll change the date at the top. Continuing to play means you accept the new terms.
